About

I teach North American literature (20th- and 21st-century) and cinema to British and American literature majors at Sophia University in Tokyo. My current projects include organizing a symposium, "After Katrina and 3.11" to be held in June, and co-editing a collection of essays on cultural narratives of 21st-century disasters.

I'm also preparing the manuscript of a collection of interviews with Todd Haynes to be published by the University Press of Mississippi in their Conversations with Filmmakers series in 2013. Future books under development include an edited collection, tentatively entitled Playing with Dolls: Women and Affect in the Films of Todd Haynes, with Theresa Geller, and a monograph on representations of debt and the home in the US real estate bubble in comedy and horror television and cinema. I am co-author, with Therese Grisham, of a feminist film and media blog soon to be launched.
