About
I teach and do research on capitalism, youth, labor, semiotics and urban studies. If you are interested in coming to Sophia for graduate work (as a degree student to pursue an MA or in a non-degree status, when you are doing dissertation fieldwork for a Ph.D. program at another university), feel free to contact me. dhslater@gmail.com
I have linked some online papers to the left.
Please have your university library buy a copy of our new book, Social Class in Contemporary Japan, eds, Hiroshi Ishida and David H. Slater. If we can sell enough hard cover copies, it goes paper (so they say), and it would be a good course book for contemporary society classes.
